December 22, 2007

Well I'm 42 now. 42!! How did this happen? I'm a mother to child approaching 20, one almost 17 and then my baby Megan just turned 6 already. Before I know it I'll be 52 and she'll be 16. Everyone always seems so shocked to find out I have James and that I was 22 when he was born - I hope that continues or poor Megan will be so embarrassed to be seen with me. Who am I kidding, she will anyway, after all I'm her mom and a certified doofus.
Christmas is but a few days away and still no tree up. This is not my fault it's Ralph's (that's my story and I'm sticking to it) He rearranged the garage and I couldn't find any of the Decorations. Plans are to put it up tonight. So right now I should be cleaning house. Which obviously I'm not doing. But I promise to start in a minute.
Ralph is at work, James is on the computer, Andrew and his girlfriend are in the other room. I'm listening to some Christmas music to get me in the mood. It's Il Divo. I chose it because the first track is Oh Holy Night and the 3rd is Ava Maria. And they do them right-- they don't go messing with them. The two most beautiful songs in the world do not need embellishments IMO and they don't do that. I wish I'd found this before last night.
Got the invitation to Jacob's wedding in Houston and I'm hoping I can find a way to go. We'll see. Would love to go and be with family - even better if we all could go but the odds of that are slim to none. Ralph has to go to OK right after it so I doubt he can go. Megan and Andrew have school and we'll see where and what James is doing - I can't begin to guess.

Dentist and orthodondists

Oh my goodness do we need an orthodontist in the family! Meg went in to have 2 caps put on. The third will be put on next week. While there they did x-rays and showed them to me. She has a total of 2 permanent teeth so far and they are already crowded. her top two teeth are HUGE! They take up what is now her top 4 teeth across the front plus a little. He said " I'm not an orthodontist but I'd say she's going to need a lot of work starting very soon."
So after her next appointment I'll make her an ortho appointment to join her cousins in getting a palate and lower jaw expanders. Then braces. Lord I need to win the lottery!

The day after

We are stuffed! Megan is spending the night with her Oma and Opa and her cousin Jamie. Don & Jackie and Carly of course are there too but at 6 Megan could care less about the grownups and teenagers she is much more into playing Barbie's and Littlest Pet Shop with Jamie.

Ralph had to close on Black Friday and said it was a madhouse. Of course VP's are coming to visit tomorrow and so they had to clean up the store - as a result he's getting off late should be home soon at the time I predicted 11:00 pm.

Andrew went to his friend Alan's house in Tempe so it's just Ralph, James and I here tonight.

Ralph is bringing home milk and soda pop and I am really needing that pop!
Well off to do one last load of clothes then bed.

Lost tooth #2

Megan lost her second tooth today while brushing her teeth. It fell out and and she freaked out. She was late for school and I was almost late for work.
James found out he starts work at Target either Friday or Saturday. Class went well today. Thank goodness Tami came in to help because I would have been up a creek with no help and 13 kids on and a Thanksgiving holiday lunch. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, broccoli rice au gratin, mac & cheese, corn, pumpkin pie, apple cobbler, brownies, and whip cream. We were stuffed!

Now off to the in-laws tomorrow for Turkey day! We are providing the turkey, deviled eggs and some cookies.

nix the cookies wasn't up to making them and Ingrid didn't seem to want any.

Halloween and birthday

Megan on Halloween she was the white witch from Narnia but she decided she was an ice princess. I made her headpiece as the one in the Disney store was expensive and it was a simple one.

News from November 3, 2007

Megan had her party today and it went very well - She also lost her tooth at a little before 5 am. She climbed into bed with us sometime between 1 and 4 am and then a little before 5 woke me up from a sound sleep when she screamed, "It fell out!"
So the tooth fairy visited her and left her some money a dollar and a handful of coins.

So my daughter has now officially lost her first tooth. My baby is growing up.

Megan's tooth is about to come out. Actually I can't believe it hasn't yet. it's hanging by a thread and the permanent one is already in. Not all the way up but more than halfway. If she would be brave and wriggle it it would fall out. I hope she doesn't swallow it tomorrow at school. I'll post a pic of it as soon as the little bugger is out.
I was worried about the permanent tooth coming in before the baby fell out but the dentist said to not worry. Like that's gonna happen! I worry about everything.

Well the silly slipcover won't stay on but when it's on and undisturbed it looks nice LOL

Had parent teacher conferences:

Meg's went very well as did the ones with my students. We did temperament scales on the kids (the parents did one and I did another) it was fun to see how alike they were only one parent rated their child significantly different than I did.

Work is good, James finally got a job Praise Be! I'm looking at getting a second one. Ralph loves his transfer. Well not loves but he's real happy about it.

Megan is the top reader in her class so that was good news. Her report card was very good. If she matures a bit more it'll be fantastic.

October 2

Home today as Megan had a tummy ache and kept running to the bathroom all night. Today she insisted on going to school late but she went and I'm the one dragging. The joys of motherhood.

I got a good deal at Target and can't wait to see the results. A slipcover and throw pillows for 20 dollars.

Ralph's brother and wife and 5 kids are coming to visit week after next and Ralph is on vacation next week so he will miss them by a day. We have fall break next week too so I get a few days off to catch up on some things. Like housework. I can't wait!

Ralph has good news from work but I can't say anything about it yet. Will soon!

Introduction

It's Saturday evening and I've been sick so I haven't gotten much done. Every time I bend over I have a coughing fit already after 5 days of this I can barely breathe my ribs and abdomen hurt so bad.

Megan is in first grade and doing well she even brought home all greens from school. Green is perfect, yellow means they needed a reminder or two to pay attention, stop talking be on task etc... , blue means you had several reminders or did something naughty, orange means big trouble and red gets you sent to the principals office. She usually varies between yellow and green with more greens than yellows but never all greens before of course it's early in the year too. She's never gotten anything below a yellow. She was telling me she had no friends but I know that's not true. She went late one day because I was sick and overslept, when I dropped her off they were outside for morning break and I overheard several girls as I was leaving running to her saying "I'm so glad Megan's here! Come on Megan's here!"

Andrew has a girlfriend. Cory, short for Corina. He's doing fine in classes not great but not bad he's averaging A's, B's and C's. He's losing weight and working out. Was going to play football but the heat was too much. Record breaking heat here in AZ. Now he's decided to return to his first love soccer and play that.

James is still looking for a job. We keep suggesting the military but he is waiting for that magical high paying no hours job that won't interfere with his nightlife. Like that's going to happen. Oh having a 19 year old is fun.

Ralph isn't doing well at all. Besides hating his job with a passion, his health is declining. He's hooked up to a c-pap machine at night for the apnea, is ignoring his kidney disease and diabetes. Now they found out he's anemic and is losing weight without trying. So he goes in for testing on that now. He has a growth on his foot too a tumor of some kind he wont' even go have checked out he's so discouraged with his health. I worry about him every minute of every day.

I love my job. It's the bright spot in our working lives. I am the lead teacher of the 3 &4 year olds. My highlight of the week was when a parent said her daughter who is 3, made her cry when she recited the Pledge of Allegiance to her. We are learning the Lord's Prayer also and they are making good headway on that. I have one student who makes me batty he's such an airhead but often he makes me laugh in exasperation too. I remember my mom saying I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body well this child would lose everything head, clothes, way, you name it. He's a sweet boy though.

Well this is a start I guess. Be patient I've never done this before.

Created so I can check other blogs

Yep I am trying to get to a blog and it made me make one so here it is.
